How to Fix the Cubs

The Pittsburgh Pirate ownership, god bless them for being cheap bastards and supplying the Cubs with an excellent major-league level farm club, rejected the inquiries of Mark Cuban to buy the team. Good.

Last week a blurb from one of the major shareholders said that the Tribune Co. might be looking to selloff non-core assets.

Selling the Cubs "makes more sense now than it has in a while," says John Miller, a vice-president at Chicago-based Ariel Capital Management LLC, Tribune's fifth-largest shareholder. "They're trying to get the stock turned around, so they tried buying back their shares, and that didn't work. Now, they move on to non-core assets, like the Cubs."

So, let me be the first person to urge Mark Cuban to put together a group and make a serious bid at the Cubs. We are dying to have good ownership in this town, Cubs fans are incredibly loyal, if you win us a championship we will crown you a king, and you will be buying one of the best franchises and brands in sports.
