Double Dip: Cubs get Pierre

As has been widely reported (here and here) the Cubs have acquired CF and leadoff man Juan Pierre for three pitching prospects. This move solves a couple immediate needs for the club and doesn't appear to come at a huge price (though 3 prospects seem a little much for a 28 year-old CF that is coming off a "down" year). A lot of other SABR-heads have poured over Pierre so I am going to leave it to them to take you inside the numbers.

Next up, finding a RF.

UPDATE: This split (via Bleed Cubbie Blue's comments) makes me a bit more optomistic but I still don't have a good feeling about next year.
